Kunstmuseum Basel, Staff Outfits
Kunstmuseum Basel, Staff Outfits
The reopening for Kunstmuseum Basel with its new building by architects Christ & Gantenbein gives cause to design and develop the staff outfits of the three houses (main building, new building, Gegenwart).
Lela Scherrer, the designer for this capsule collection, is mainly influenced by the architecture of the new building. Designing garments with a recognizable signature, the designer succeeds in taking account of the stylized and formal surrounding of this art museum. For the development of the prints Lela Scherrer collaborates once more with the highly esteemed textile designer Christoph Hefti.
The look of the outfits is based on a modern interpretation of formalwear. The careful selection of European fabrics and the garment’s making finalize the sophisticated look. The prints play with the elements of layering and reflection, which interact with Christ & Gantenbein’s architecture and its materials. This underlines Scherrer / Hefti’s signature at once.
